Improving access to emergency medical care in the greater Rome area is a primary goal for Rome Memorial Hospital. HOLT is helping them reach this goal through the design of a new Emergency Department. The 11,000 sf addition triples the size of the current department and more than doubles the number of treatment rooms, bringing access to emerging technologies and state-of-the-art procedures to the area.
Increased efficiency and improved observation and response time are achieved through a linear design, placing the Emergency staff close to patients and eliminating public traffic through the nurse station area. A gracious public waiting area and liberal use of daylighting mean shorter wait times in a relaxing and tranquil environment, all part of the patient friendly approach at Rome Hospital.
The addition creates a new 'front door' for the hospital, increasing visibility and welcoming the public to the new facility.
