HOLT begins construction for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier

October 20, 2010 -

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier (FBST) located in Elmira, NY has outgrown its current facility and is in the process of acquiring and renovating an existing facility to accommodate its current needs as well as its planned future growth. The design addresses two primary goals for the Food Bank:

  1. Create a reception and public receiving space that is functionally efficient for staff, and presents a welcoming, and neighborly image to visitors and volunteers.
  2. Reuse existing space wherever possible, being frugal with the selection of materials and finishes.

The challenge from the client was to create an architecture to convey an image of creative, innovative and fiscally responsible operations.

The project began construction in October of this year and the Food Bank will be in their new facility by the end of February 2011.
