Lincoln Center Ribbon Cutting

June 18, 2011 -

The Village residents of Dryden, New York celebrated the grand opening of the Lincoln Center Addition on Saturday, the 18th of June with a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony. The dream for this expansion was made possible through funding realized from the sale of an original hand written Abraham Lincoln speech, sold at a Christie's of New York auction in February 2009.

The Lincoln Center Addition triples the capacity of the original Romanesque style building, a treasured building in the village, which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and was designed by architect William Henry Miller in 1894. Mr. Michael Lane, one of Southworth Library Association's seven Trustees, delivered the dedication address and noted, " ...HOLT Architects has overseen design and construction of the addition. While respecting William Henry Miller's original concept, they have created a distinct new structure with contemporary features, unique unto itself, but highly complementary to the historic Southworth building."
