Healthcare Design 2010

Paul Levesque, AIA, LEED AP was selected to speak at the Healthcare Design 2010 conference in Las Vegas. This four day event brings healthcare professionals and innovators together to network and share ideas.

There has been little discussion of, or innovation with, contemporary patient bathroom design. The roundtable will explore current survey information, prototypes, and available products, as well as application of evidence-based research to identify possibilities for redefining the traditional bathroom in anticipation that such a redefinition will result in a more optimized, functional, and efficient space. The roundtable attendees will have the opportunity to discuss key forces that should be used to influence design of the rooms including patient acuity; patient, family, and staff use patterns; accessibility; safety; infection control; equipment; and building codes, and will explore design challenges solutions for optimization.
