Planning

A new affiliation with a large healthcare system, new administration and downsizing from a 100 bed facility to a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital were the catalysts for the Master Facilities Plan initiated by HOLT in 2006.

Our analysis showed that the existing facility had more than sufficient space to accommodate the proposed program. However, much of the facility provided space of a quality that was not suitable. Renovation of older buildings to meet the needs and standards for contemporary healthcare functions can be inefficient and expensive. Accordingly, the design team evaluated the potential of each existing space to perform its' proposed function.

A plan that met the functional requirements of the proposed program within a financially responsible framework and allowed the hospital to maintain full operation during construction was developed and became the basis for a successful HEAL NY grant application. Appropriate Certificate of Need (CON) applications are currently in preparation and work is beginning with great anticipation and enthusiasm.
