The original 1939 structure with restrictive floor-to-floor heights presented challenges in creating flexible space fitted with technologically appropriate systems in functional locations. Plus the small and highly developed site limited alternatives for feasible change and growth.
The comprehensive study included market analysis to identify key opportunities for future growth. Imaging services and surgery programs ranked highest. A comprehensive review of the existing facility determined the best utilization of existing vacant space, as well as newly vacated space resulting from the 2006 3-story addition HOLT had completed for emergency, laboratory, pharmacy and materials management. The plan proposed three future additions to the existing complex: (1) creation of a new Imaging Center on the east side, (2) an expansion on the north for surgery that would allow for the relocation of ambulatory surgery into the surgery suite from an upper floor, and (3) infill of the existing central courtyard for an expansion of admissions and staff services
The plan included an existing and projected space inventory, master plan mapping, parking analysis, phasing plans, and proposed schedules and budgets.
