The design for the 86,700sf, four-story, 58-unit, DeWitt House development leverages the many benefits of its historic downtown locale to create a thoughtful community asset that fits seamlessly within the heart of Ithaca’s DeWitt Park Historic District.
The first floor contains a community room for classes and events, commercial space, and four apartments. Upper levels include apartments, resident storage rooms, multi-purpose rooms, a common roof terrace for residents, and areas of green roof.
Sustainability measures include energy efficient and sustainable mechanical and electrical systems, natural ventilation, a high performance building envelope, use of daylighting and control of solar gain, landscaping and gardens to provide shading and reduce heat island effect, and green roof areas for reduction of heat island effect and reduction of storm water run-off.
Once complete, the DeWitt House will bring a core density of residents to Downtown who will support local businesses and bring increased vitality and economic benefit to the heart of Ithaca.
