Moffett Center Academic Renovation, PH 2
SUNY Cortland | Cortland, NY
SUNY Cortland’s 1940’s Moffett Center was originally built as a recreational facility including a pool, gym and related facilities. Its location, nestled in the center of the campus’ academic heart, make the building ideal to repurpose for academic uses.
This second phase of the Moffett Center rehabilitation addresses the programmatic needs for Math, Health, Economics, Political Science, Africana Studies and the Institute for Civic Engagement. The perimeter of the building will accommodate classrooms, seminar rooms, and resource rooms, leaving the core to become a community providing a variety of group study environments.
The design brings natural light deep into the historic building, gives each department an identifiable location and a sense of home, and creates a welcoming community atmosphere that balances social and academic throughout the building.
